Apply today! General Summary:
The Sanitation position provides technical guidance to Campbell’s sanitation programs worldwide under the Global Quality / Food Safety Organization. This position is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and compliance of company-wide sanitation programs, policies and practices related to wet and dry sanitation. The position is also responsible for driving sanitation continuous improvement and operational savings. The Sanitation position engages Operations Quality and Supply Chain staff to ensure successful program adoption, provides technical expertise and works with Corporate Engineering to ensure appropriate sanitary design. The Sanitation position is also responsible for assisting in the development and execution of global sanitation training and auditing programs. Principle accountabilities: 1. Assist with the design, implementation, enhancement and validation of sanitation and pest elimination methods and programs across all businesses and geographies. Ensure uniformity of sanitation and pest elimination practices across businesses, where applicable. Assist plants with the development of sanitation business plans and capital investment priorities. Establish and monitor key sanitation metrics. (35%)
2. Serve as a sanitation expert providing guidance and technical support to Operations Quality, R&D, Company manufacturing facilities and Co-mans in the areas of sanitation, pest control, pathogen/environmental control programs, new equipment installation or construction changes and other food safety or quality initiatives as relating to sanitation and pest elimination processes. (30%)
3. Design and conduct Sanitation Audits/Assessments at Company manufacturing facilities and Co-mans to identify areas for sanitation program and practices improvements based on audit results. (15%)
4. Leverage sanitation and pest management vendors’ expertise to help implement a best-in-class sanitation program including, but not limited to, design and testing of new/improved sanitation and pest elimination methods, training materials, best practices sharing, and operational savings opportunities. Identify and manage resources to deliver improved operational efficiencies. (10%)
5. Assist with developing, updating and communicating sanitation standards and procedures to comply with Company requirements and governmental regulations. (5%)
6. Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of training programs, workshops and other resource material. (5%)
Job Complexity:


  • This position will be required to evaluate current sanitation and pest control programs and procedures, verifying both accuracy and efficacy of the programs and procedures while recommending improvements or corrections for optimum sanitation and pest control for all Plants in the Campbell Global system.
  • This position will be required to work cross-functionally to assist with sanitation or pest control issue resolution by coordinating the efforts of all responsible parties for the timely resolution of the problem.
  • This position will be required to keep abreast of new technologies and practices in sanitation and pest control by maintaining close relationships with outside vendors, regulatory contacts and technical publications and reports. Any potential opportunities identified must be clearly communicated to the appropriate teams. This position will also be responsible for any trials or evaluations that would be necessary to identify cost and operational benefits associated with the new technology or practice.

Job specifications:

  • Proven strengths and in-depth knowledge of sanitation, pest control and Plant manufacturing systems. Sanitarian certification is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, GFSI/ISO Sanitation Standards. Strong food safety and microbiology background in relation to pest control, pathogen & allergen control, spoilage and plant sanitation.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate sanitation procedures in both wet and dry environments for their effectiveness and adequacy.
  • Ability to partner with many diverse groups including Plant Operations, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Co-mans, sanitation vendors, third-party auditors and other technical organizations/associations to effectively manage issues and operational savings opportunities within Plant sanitation and pest control programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in auditing and training a diverse work group.

Additional specifications: Minimum education required: Bachelors of Science degree in food science or a related technical field
Years of relevant experience: 5 to 8 years of experience in the food industry with demonstrated experience/achievements in sanitation
Working conditions:
Office/meetings – computer work, sitting, repetitive motions (20%)
Travel to and work in Campbell Soup Company and co-mans or suppliers facilities (75%) Compensation and Benefits: The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $85,900-$140,800 Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
